I found the German-Polish illustrated dictionary at the bookshelf of one of my friends. From that time I was constantly thinking how to make use of it in a creative way.
This book is designed to give a complete description of the world in any technical detail. But when you examine its contents carefully you discover that it hides more then it shows. For this reason I decided to switch the pages of the dictionary and show you some fragments of it in the form of classroom educational plates.
This work can give the viewer several ways of reading: it can be a story about the language and the complicated relation between words and things, it can be a political comment on the way Germans looked at things in thirties and fifties ( this are the dates of the edition of the dictionary), it can also be an ironic story about misunderstanding, when you try to translate words into images or words of one language into words of another one.

"Projekt "Słownik" narodził się przypadkowo dwa lata temu. Znalazłem ilustrowany słownik polsko / niemiecki u kolegi na półce. Zainspirował mnie i od tego czasu zastanawiałem się co mogę z nim zrobić. Ta książka stworzona została, aby dać pełne wyjaśnienie jak działa świat i technika. Kiedy jednak przeczyta się dokładniej opisy, widać wyraźnie, że kryją ona więcej, niż pokazują. z tego powodu zdecydowałem się pozamieniać kartki i pokazać kilka z nich na planszach, jakie wiszą często w salach szkolnych.
Tę pracę można odczytywac na kilka sposobów. Może byc to opowieść o języku, skomplikowanej relacji między słowami i przedmiotami, jakie opisują, może byc to polityczny komentarz do sposobu w jaki Niemcy patrzyli na świat w latach 30´tych i 40´tych (w tych latach był wydany słownik) lub odczytać ironiczną historię niezrozumienia kiedy próbuje się przetłumaczyć słowa na obrazy lub przetłumaczyć je na inny język."
